50% TCG EXPO Cosplay Ticket Discount Terms & Conditions

Cosplayers attending TCG Expo are eligible for 50% off admission, either purchased online or at the door. To ensure fairness and maintain the spirit of this promotion, the following terms apply:

1. Definition of Cosplay

  • A “cosplay” must be a recognizable costume or outfit inspired by a character, series, franchise, or theme from anime, gaming, TCG, comics, film or pop culture.
  • Outfits should demonstrate effort, creativity, and the intention to represent a character or fandom.
    • Original or inspired character designs are permitted so long as the outfit demonstrates effort and creativity
    • Cosplays do not need to be handcrafted; purchased cosplays are permitted

2. What Does Not Qualify

  • Plain or minimal costumes (e.g., white sheet ghost, cardboard box, casual clothing with a sticker, etc.) will not be considered cosplay. 
  • Everyday fashion, casual wear, or merchandise-only outfits (e.g., wearing just a Pokémon t-shirt) do not qualify. 
  • Masks, hats, or single accessories without a full or partial costume do not qualify

3. Event Staff Discretion and Event Rules

  • Final determination of whether an outfit qualifies as cosplay rests with TCG Expo staff at the entrance. Staff decisions are final and non-negotiable.
  • All cosplay must follow the event’s general dress code and safety rules (refer to Appendix A and Appendix B)

4. How to Claim Discount

  • Option 1 (At the door):  Arrive in cosplay and request the discount from registration staff. 
  • Option 2 (Online): Purchase the ticket through the “Cosplayer Ticket” link and review rules before purchasing. You must arrive in cosplay to validate the discount.
  • If you purchase a Cosplayer Ticket online but arrive not in cosplay, you may be required to pay the balance of a regular admission ticket at the door.

By purchasing or using a Cosplayer Ticket, you agree to these terms and conditions.

APPENDIX A – Cosplay Policy

  • Please be mindful that Worlds Collide is a FAMILY FRIENDLY event. Attendees are encouraged to dress modestly, avoiding excessively revealing or provocative attire. Failure to follow this rule may result in denial of entry.
    • Cosplays cannot have offensive imagery (offensive language, symbols, or images that could be deemed inappropriate)
  • Cosplay and costumes must cover a reasonable amount of your body acceptable for a public situation. Minimal coverage is the area covered by universally acceptable swimwear (bikini or trunks)
    • Exposed backs are allowed
    • Footwear is required
    • Body paint and glitter must be non transferable
  • Cosplays and props should not be able to cause injury to other attendees, ensure all sharp points are capped, taped, or dulled
  • Cosplays or costumes impersonating law enforcement, safety personnel, venue staff, or security are strictly prohibited
  • Any cosplays or props with wheels (skateboards, roller skates, etc) are prohibited within the venue building unless otherwise discussed with CSC 

Ontario laws and regulations must also be adhered to in addition to the listed rules

Failure to comply with Cosplay and Weapon policy may result in removal from the event

APPENDIX B – Weapon & Prop Policy

A Weapon is defined as any item that the criminal code or CSC staff considers to be a weapon. All weapon props must be inspected by CSC staff prior to entering the venue. 

  • The following weapons are illegal in Canada and absolutely illegal at Worlds Collide, examples include:
    • Firearms of any kind, bali-song(“butterfly knife”), switchblades, brass knuckles, spiked wristbands, morning stars, concealed knives, hand crossbows, nunchucks, batons, tasers, mace, arrows, bolts
    • Foam replicas are permissible, but may require a label indicating the prop
    • Please review the Canada Border Service Agency and Justice Canada’s policies regarding illegal weapons
  • The following weapons are not allowed in Worlds Collide for safety reasons
    • Airsoft/BB/pellet guns, pistols, rifles, or similar devices
    • Replica firearms made from metal or solid resin (that may be indistinguishable from real firearms at a distance)
    • Close imitations are allowed so long as they cannot fire and are made from acceptable material like foam
    • Props that are capable of firing a projectile (bullets, arrows, bolts), Nerf guns and similar options are allowed if they are unloaded at all times
  • Weapons cannot have sharp edges (knives, swords, shields), excessive weight, or any other features that can be harmful to other event attendees
  • Lasers are strictly prohibited, light sabers are permitted if it is not made of glass
  • Weapon props may be required to have an orange safety tip at the venue, but may be removed during short photography and competition purposes

Ontario laws and regulations must also be adhered to in addition to the listed rules

Failure to comply with Cosplay and Weapon policy may result in removal from the event
